Hi" my name is Della and I am on a journey . . . .
. . to a fitter, healthier, slimmer, and ultimately happier self.
About 4 weeks ago I went along to my G P's office to enquire about sugery to get a gastrick band fitted as I desperately want to loose the weight I put on after giving up Drugs 6 years ago !
We chatted a while about eating healthily and blah blah blah .Then I was weighed and that sealed the deal for me ! He has put me on a course of tablets that stick to the ingested fat in you stomach and then that bypasses the Digestion stage and is expelled straight out the other end .
Even though I was told that you absolutely MUST be eating a healthy diet BEFORE you start with the tablets , I thought " Great " I can still eat what I want and the fat won't get digested !
Oh how wrong I was , and after putting up with Dihorria and stomach cramps for 24 hours, I chucked out the crisps and biscuits ( actually I gave them to a neighbour, I'm not that wastefull !) and resolved to tackle this thing head on ( after all, C'mon I gave up drugs didn't I ? ).
I arranged with my local Community Drug Team ( who I still see on a bi-monthly basis for support ) to get a free pass to the local Gym, went to the supermarket and bought Crispbreads, fish , fruit , plenty of Vedge and some Pro Biotic Drinks ( can't hurt can it ?) then went to a clothes shop mand bought a top 2 sizes too small ( it really helps to have an attainable goal ) ! So here I am 2 weeks later and I have my first weigh-in on the 8th December , which I am actually looking forward to !
I know that support is a great tool for loosing weight be it pounds or stones , and knew it would help me no end to keep a journal, so I thought what a good idea to write a Hub about it so other people can follow my journey and hopefully I might be just the insiration YOU need to make that change , be it drugs you're trying to give up or smoking or even if you too want to loose some weight !

Ok , now a little about the aforementioned tablets
the Doctor has put me on . . . .
. . . Yeah , the ones that made me poop too much ( Yuc!) Ha ! Ha ! get the laughing over with !
They are called XENICAL (Orlistat) and come in one inch blue capsules each one containing 120mg.
What XENICAL is and what it is used for ?
Xenical is a medicine used to treat obesity. It works in your Digestive System to BLOCK about one-third of the FAT in the food that you eat from being Digested.
Xenical attatches to the ENZYMES in your digestive system (lipases)and blocks them from being breaking down some of the fat you haveeaten during your meal. The UNDIGESTED FAT cannot be absorbed and is eliminated by your body.
But it will ONLY work if taken at the same time as a LOW CALORIE Intake diet .
It is only available on Prescription, as it should be, and will not be given to you if you suffer from the usual list of illnesses , i.e. pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have an allergy towards any of the ingredients in it .There are more, so please be aware .
It goes without saying, I hope, that you must CONSULT a DOCTOR before you under take any form of weight loss or Diet as weight loss may also affect the dose of medicines taken for other conditions (such as high Cholesterol or Diabetes).
You MAY experience some completely HARMLESS side affects like, changes to your bowel habits , and oily or fatty stools, but these are so faint and quite honestly I found it reassuring to see that the medication DID what it promised , and they were not a problem .
I have been taking it now for nearly a month and I feel that it really 'Does what it says on the tin' !

Day 30 !
Well , I'm getting ready for another work-out this morning. . .
. . . and for a change I thought I would take along my Mobile phone so that, if I ask the Gym's permission, I will be able to take some pictures of my excersise routine ,and I'll try to capture some of it on Video ! That's going to be something WORTH seeing !

I am knackered , just got back from my 'Walk' and 'Cycle' at the Gym, and feel soo good. I Did manage to shoot some footage although it's not very good but have a look anyway and please TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK by leaving a comment , and please TRY to be kind !!
DAY 36
Hi Y'all ( as they say in the states ) just wanted to update you about my Doctors appointment that I went to on Monday
Well the BAD news is that it was Bloody cold on Monday morning when I went to see my GP ( cor, I must have lost some weight , I can feel the cold now ! )
The GOOD news is that I DID loose some weight this month , a whole Three pounds of it . I was absolutely terrified and drove my other half ( not better half ) completely to distraction all last week saying 'what if I haven't lost ANY weight ?'
I had so prepared myself to be told that I hadn't lost any weight yet, as in my GP's own words ' You probably won't notice any weight loss at first as your body will just be starting to get used to your new eating habbits and the new excersise routine,' that it came almost as a complete surprise and I was quite shocked (but in a nice way )!
So I though to myself that if I can loose Three lbs on my new Diet ( ok I kept a couple of biscuits back , I admit it ) when I had only been working out for 20 minutes three times a week , what could I acheive without biscuits and working out for 30 minutes EVERY DAY ?
So this week and for the forseeable future ( or untill my next weigh-in , whichever comesirst ) I have been down at theGym sweating with the rest of them .
